I will not resolve to keep our Blog timely, fresh and interesting this year – only because my record for keeping New Year’s resolutions is dismal. Even so that is my plan – to be back here every week or two – keeping friends of La Paz (and potential friends) apprised of what’s going on in our neighborhood.
Anne and I spent the second week of this year in Austin, attending the Professional Association of Innkeepers International (PAII) conference held at the Palmer Event Center. No, we weren’t teaching any seminars, but we were attending lots of them. While there, we got behind on our weekly chores at home while adding lots of chores from all the great tips gleaned from the conference. The cumulative effect was getting waaay behind on everything. We owe a big thanks to our associate innkeeper, Jessica McMillan, for keeping the boat afloat during our absence. She was very busy with more guests than we’ve ever had this time of year – and we’re thankful for that!
So – next up will be to continue our trip around neighboring cities and towns featuring things to do while there. We will also be compiling a calendar of events for our area such as Tyler County’s Dogwood Festival and Jasper’s famous Lion’s Club Rodeo. Obviously, if you’re looking for a place to stay we might know of one! (if I used emojis this is where I’d put a big Smiley Face)
While in Austin we stayed with our daughter’s family in Leander. Anne got to do a little life-skills training with her two granddaughters, H1 and H2.
Wednesday night an old friend who lives in the SOCO neighborhood took us out for a stroll.

Here’s H1 and H2 clowning around with their new boyfriend at the very cool Austin Aquarium.
